On March 18, 2022, the Deposit Insurance of Vietnam (the DIV) attended the virtual meeting of the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee (APRC), the International Association of Deposit Insurance (IADI). The meeting was a regional session under a series of meetings within the framework of IADI’s 72th Executive Council (EXCO) meeting from February 28 to March 29, 2022.
There are attendees from DIV including Mr. Pham Bao Lam – Chairman of the Board of Directors of the DIV, Head and staffs of the Research and International Cooperation Department.
At the meeting, as the designated member for the DIV, Chairman Pham Bao Lam made approval of Minutes from the 20th APRC Meeting on November 24, 2021 and the result of APRC Chairperson election – Mr Hidenori Mitsui – for the term of 3 years (2022-2025) and dissolution of APRC Chairperson Election Committee (CEC).
As the new Chairman of APRC, Mr. Mitsui committed of trying his best efforts for the development and the unity of the APRC. On this occasion, Mr Mitsui also expressed his sincere thanks to all CEC members that Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Binh – Deputy Director of the DIV joined as an active member.
The meeting updated activities of Technical Assistance Committees in the last period, agreed on several multilateral meetings of APRC in the coming time, including: i) the 20th APRC Annual Meeting will be hosted virtually by the Thailand Deposit Protection Agency in July, 2022; ii) APRC Technical Assistance Workshop will be held by the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation in August, 2022; iii) 2nd APRC Study Visit and International Seminar will be celebrated by the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation in Bali in November, 2022.
Actively participating in regional events and meetings and joining IADI meetings help the DIV express its role as a member, grasp general cooperation issues of Committees and IADI. Hence, DIV will proactively carry out activities of bilateral, multilateral cooperation and technical support with international organizations corresponding to the DIV’s annual operational orientations.
