Deposit Insurance of Vietnam attends the 2021 Annual General Meeting of International Association of Deposit Insurers


On 2nd December 2021, the Deposit Insurance of Vietnam (DIV) attended the 2021 Annual General Meeting of International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI), which was held virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The meeting was an important session in the IADI’s series of events taking place from 4th November to 3rd December 2021.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Pham Bao Lam – Chairman of the Board of Directors of the DIV, Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Binh – Deputy General Director and representatives from related departments at the DIV’s headquarters.

As an IADI member, the DIV made approval of IADI documents, including the 2020/2021 Annual Report, the financial statements for FY 2020/2021, the Auditors Report, the Business Plan for 2021 – 2024, the Revised Budget for 2021/2022, the Forecast Budget for 2022/2023, the Appreciation Resolutions for BIS, FSI, the Secretariat and a couple of IADI members; updated IADI’s upcoming activities.

At the meeting, IADI members also made approval of the election results of the Treasurer of the Association – Mr. Roberto Tan, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation, and Executive Council members. On this occasion, Mr. Roberto Tan – New Treasurer of the Association delivered a presentation on IADI’s financial conditions in 2021.

Important issues contributing to the development and common goals of IADI were discussed by representatives of IADI members, especially the IADI’s Strategic goals and objectives in the period of 2022-2026. Accordingly, the IADI’s strategic goals are: (i) promoting the Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems and deposit insurance compliance; (ii) advancing deposit insurance research and policy development; (iii) providing Members with technical support to modernise and upgrade their systems; and (iv) enhancing IADI’s governance by improving efficiency and transparency. Along with the Annual General Meeting, meetings of the Asia – Pacific Regional Committee and Technical Committees were also parts of the series of events. In which, the Session “Outlook on the Year Ahead” was a forum for top executives of deposit insurers to discuss future plan of IADI, challenges that it in particular and deposit insurers in general have been facing, specifically the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as solutions for these challenges.
